Before they are eligible for certification, models must meet strict age and mileage standards and are thoroughly inspected and reconditioned for safety and quality. We put models through this complex process in order to only offer CPO vehicles that meet our high standards (and those of the manufacturer as well) in our inventory of Certified Pre-Owned Toyota models. This varies, depending on the used car, but in general, the mileage at which a car is considered “undrivable” has gone up over the past ten years. This is due to advancements in powertrain technology, as well as the fact that cars are simply more efficient now than they used to be. Most modern cars won’t start to show major issues until they hit 200,000 miles, and some cars will keep pushing until 300,000 miles. Again, this varies by make and model, so look into the average lifespan of vehicles from your preferred brand before committing to a used car with high mileage.
